Statement of Faith
We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative, Word of God. (II Timothy 3:16, II Peter 1:21)
We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Genesis 1:1, Matthew 28:19, John 10:30)
We believe in the deity of Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His vicarious and atoning death, His resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and His personal return in power and glory. (John 10:33, Isaiah 7:14, Matthew 1:23, Hebrews 4:15, Ephesians 1:7, John 11:25, Mark 16:19, Acts 1:11)
We believe in the absolute necessity of regeneration by the Holy Spirit for salvation because of the exceeding sinfulness of human nature, and that we are justified on the single ground of faith in the shed blood of Christ and that only by faith alone we are saved. (John 3:16-19, Romans 3:23 & 5:8-9)
We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost – the saved to the resurrection of life, and the lost to the resurrection of damnation. (John 5:28-29)
We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ. (Romans 8:9, I Corinthians 12:12-13)
We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life. (Romans 8:13-14, I Corinthians 3:16 & 6:19-20)
Chapel
Chapel is a vital part of school life at Westover Christian Academy. Elementary chapel is held once a week for students in Kindergarten through grade 5. The 6th-12th grade chapel is also held once each week. Faculty, area pastors, missionaries, and other guests minister in chapel. Praise and worship is also an important part of the chapel services and is often student led.
Bible Curriculum
Bible classes are an exciting part of the WCA curriculum. Curriculum resources from different publishers are used in order to present to the students age-appropriate, quality Biblical instruction. Currently, the following publishers are used at the grade levels listed below. The King James Version of the Bible is used for Bible memorization. Other translations may be used for reference and study.
K3, K-4 and K-5 A Beka
Grades 1-6 ACSI
Grade 7 Proverbs – Positive Action For Christ
Grade 8 Survival Quest - Lifeway Publications
Grades 9-12
A lecture-style format is used with various area pastors and youth pastors serving as a guest lecturer for 2-6 weeks at a time. Students are given weekly quizzes based on the speaker's notes and also have a quiz on the Bible verses they were required to learn.
